AC times include charging losses (~10% on Level 2, ~20% on Level 1). Cold weather, preconditioning, and the battery's state can stretch these figures. Charging past 80% is slow on DC and gentler on the battery when done on AC at home.

Home chargers that fit the Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y charges on NACS, and both of these plug straight in. Its 11 kW onboard charger can take about 46 A, which needs a hardwired 48 A unit on a 60 A circuit; a plug-in 14-50 setup tops out at 40 A (9.6 kW). Tesla's unit also charges J1772 cars from its built-in adapter, which matters if a non-Tesla EV shares the garage.
