Our story
Mikael Côté and Vincent Daigle met on a job site in Montreal — two electricians with different personalities but the same view of the work: do it right, no nonsense. For years we saw the same problem on both sides of every project. Homeowners trying to electrify their homes had no trustworthy way to get straight answers, and good tradespeople had no simple way to reach them.
So we built our own solution. We didn't come from a tech startup or a PowerPoint deck — just two people in the trade who decided to fix a real problem we knew from the inside.
BranchéQC — Quebec, Canada
In Quebec we launched BranchéQC, a platform connecting homeowners with RBQ-certified electricians for EV chargers, solar panels, heat pumps, panel upgrades, and backup generators. It taught us how to translate deep electrical knowledge into something ordinary people can actually use — and it proved the model works.
Bringing the knowledge to the US
The US EV and home-energy market is enormous, and it's full of calculators that are vague, padded with ads, or flat-out wrong on the electrical details. That's exactly the gap we know how to close.
WattSimple is our way of sharing the trade across the border: free, accurate, build-once tools grounded in US standards — the NEC for electrical work, EIA and EPA data for rates and emissions. No lead-gen, no sign-up, no perishable content to go stale. Just the math, done right, for every EV model and every state.
Why WattSimple
Real electrical accuracy
Breaker sizing, panel loads, the NEC 125% rule — done right, where most calculators are vague or simply wrong.
Per-model depth
Real specs for every EV — battery size, efficiency, charge curves across 73+ models, not one-size-fits-all defaults.
Per-state data
Local electricity rates for all 50 states + DC, so the numbers match your actual bill.
Instant & free
No sign-up, no email, no upsell. Results update as you type, and the math never goes stale.
The team
Mikael Côté
Co-founder · Electrician
A journeyman electrician with a passion for tech and EVs. Mikael drives the product and makes sure every technical decision holds up — on the job site and in the calculator.
Vincent Daigle
Co-founder · Electrician
An entrepreneur at heart who knows the contractor side inside out. Vincent built the certified-electrician network that BranchéQC runs on — and shapes how we bring that rigor to the US.
Our mission
Make the real electrical and energy math anyone can trust — free, accurate, and grounded in the standards we work to every day — available to every EV driver and homeowner in the US.
