EcoFlow and Jackery are the two brands most shoppers cross-shop, and the comparison is genuinely close — both build current-generation LiFePO4 units with real inverters and honest spec sheets. They differ in philosophy more than quality: EcoFlow builds power tools, Jackery builds appliances.
EcoFlow or Jackery — which should you buy?
EcoFlow pushes the technical envelope: faster recharging, higher solar-input ceilings, X-Boost output stretching, 240 V split-phase on the flagship, and a whole-home integration path (Smart Home Panel) that treats the power station as a home battery. The cost is complexity — more modes, more app, more to understand.
Jackery optimizes the core loop: charge it, store it, plug things in when the power dies. Its units are typically the lightest in class, the app is thinner because there's less to configure, and the brand has the longest consumer track record in the category.

What is EcoFlow better at?
Recharge speed, both wall and solar. Sub-hour wall recharges are standard across the current line, and the DELTA Pro 3's 2,600 W solar ceiling means panels can genuinely refill it mid-outage — the thing "solar generator" marketing implies and smaller inputs can't deliver.
The whole-home ambition. The DELTA Pro 3 is the one unit in the mainstream field with 240 V split-phase output and an automatic sub-panel option. If your endgame is whole-home battery backup without a permanent install, EcoFlow is further down that road.
UPS behavior. Roughly 10 ms switchover on current units, against roughly 20 ms — either handles most electronics, but EcoFlow holds the spec edge for UPS duty.
What is Jackery better at?
Weight and simplicity. Class for class, Jackery units are lighter — the Explorer 1000 v2 is under 24 lb where competitors run 35 — and there is simply less to configure. For the buyer who wants an appliance, that's the feature.
Track record. Jackery has sold consumer power stations longer than anyone in this comparison, and its failure modes, support behavior and warranty handling are the best documented in the category.
Inverter-per-class. The Explorer 2000 Plus's 3,000 W continuous beats the 2 kWh class norm, with the expansion path to 24 kWh if the backup plan grows.
How do you compare the spec sheets without being misled?
Both brands publish honest numbers. The trap is comparing numbers that aren't measuring the same thing.
Watt-hours are rated, not usable. The figure on the box is cell capacity. What comes out of the AC outlets is less — inverter conversion takes roughly 10–15%, and the battery management system holds a reserve. Plan on about 85% of the label.
Cycle life only means something with its threshold. "4,000 cycles" is always to a retained-capacity figure — commonly 70% or 80% of original — at a stated depth of discharge and temperature. A larger cycle number measured to a lower threshold isn't the better battery. Check what each number is counted to before treating it as a difference.
Continuous watts and surge watts are different specs. The continuous rating is what it sustains; the surge rating is a brief allowance for motor starts. Fast-charge times usually come with a footnote. The headline recharge figure often refers to a fast or emergency mode, and manufacturers generally advise using it when you need it rather than as the default, because high charge rates are harder on cells. The standard-mode time is the one you'll live with.
Solar input ceilings are maximums, not yields. A 2,600 W input ceiling doesn't mean 2,600 W arrives. Real panel output in good conditions typically runs 60–75% of the panel rating, and much less at poor angles or under cloud. The ceiling tells you what the unit can accept if you buy enough panel.
Does either brand lock you in?
Somewhat, and it's worth knowing before you start down a path.
Expansion batteries, home panels and transfer switches are proprietary to each brand, and frequently to a specific generation within that brand. A previous-generation unit may not accept the current expansion module, and the two brands' ecosystems don't mix at all.
Two practical consequences:
- If expansion is part of the plan, buy into the current generation. A deeply discounted previous-generation unit is a fine standalone purchase and a poor foundation for a system you intend to grow.
- Check that the expansion module is actually available for the unit you're buying, in your market, at a price you'd accept. "Expandable to 24 kWh" is a capability, not an included feature — the modules typically cost more per kWh than the base unit.
The one thing that isn't proprietary is solar input. Both brands accept standard panels within their voltage and current windows, so panels bought for one are usually usable with the other.
What matters more than which brand?
Having compared the two at length, the honest summary is that brand choice is rarely the decision that determines whether you're happy with the purchase. These are:
- Does the surge rating start your worst motor? Get this wrong and capacity is irrelevant.
- Can you carry it? A unit that lives in the basement because it's too heavy isn't backup.
- Do you need 240V? If yes, that eliminates most of both lineups immediately.
